Faye Jones Howard
Faye was born on August 7, 1946, in the small town of Winterville, North Carolina, a progressive, close-knit community about an hour from Raleigh, North Carolina. Two of her favorite memories are: the time she was recognized by the Poetry Society for her first published poem, “A Minute’s Dream”, and the time in which her whole family worked with the community theater company, NCACT, founded by her sister, Sandra Jones. The front yard of their home advertised auditions for plays with homemade signs while mom, dad, and siblings served as office staff. The family played a major role in the 1996 production of James Weldon Johnson’s “God’s Trombones”, starring Clifton Davis and promoted and directed by Sandra Jones. Faye continues to write for her sister to this day!
Faye got married and resided in Charlotte, North Carolina for 25 years before returning home to care for her parents, now deceased. It was during this time that she attended Babbie Mason’s Music Conference where she placed second and third consecutively in 2001-2002 in the songwriting contest, which was her first songwriting experience. She has also received special recognitions from the Contemporary Christian Association International, the International Songwriting Competition, and the Nashville Songwriters Association International. Faye became a member of the following songwriter’s associations: NSAI, CCMNI, and ASCAP.
Faye became active in her church and community by writing materials for special events, including plays, skits, church documentaries, and women’s conferences. Faye’s first book, “Because She’s a Lady: Expressions of Worship” was born out of her contributions to the women’s ministry. It is a moving collection of poetry, prayers, affirmations, and inspirational lyrics that will touch the hearts of all who read it. Faye was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in 2010 and given 6 months (or less) to live. It is her prayer that her next book will minister to those with any terminal diagnosis.
Faye recently won her third songwriting competition at the Babbie Mason’s Inner Circle Songwriting Competition 2021 for her song, “I Want More” which was featured on Babbie Mason Radio. Her book, “Because She’s a Lady: Expressions of Worship” was also featured.
A sensational senior at seventy-five years of age, Faye Howard is the proud mother of a son and daughter and grandmother of eight. She currently resides in Winterville, North Carolina and enjoys creating beautiful floral arrangements and home accessories for her small business, “Faye’s Floral Fashions.” She is also working on her next book.
It is her prayer that readers will get a glimpse of not only “Faye’s Heart”, but their own, as they relate to everyday worship experiences through her writings. She says, “The voice of God is my greatest inspiration. He allows me to see Him in every circumstance, so my life and work might be a blessing to every person I encounter.”
